“Der Vorläufer” design study was on display in the boulevard area between the halls and drew large crowds even from outside the DHDG stand. The radical design breaks with traditional ideas of seating through its lack of front legs. Instead, a strip of carpet at the front which continues as a train towards the end ensures stability and variability. The unusual seating solution is the centre of attention and can be used in numerous different ways. This was impressively demonstrated by Züco’s lively exhibition which showed the “Vorläufer” not only in various seat and lounger configurations but also skilfully combined with the “Perillo” lounge chair. Dr Ihring explained: “In its own way, ‘Der Vorläufer’ is just as innovative as our new ‘InTouch’ and ‘X-Code’ chairs. As confirmed by visitors’ reactions at the Orgatec, it is an experiment with great commercial potential.”
